Cell Phone Charging
Amazon.com: Battery Tender 081-0158 Black Quick Disconnect Plug with USB Charger: Automotive
essentially the same thing, but this one works very nicely. There's reports that say Don't leave it plugged in if you don't have to because it'll drain your bike's battery. I haven't tried, and i'm not going to test it..

You will need the accessory pigtail so you don't have to cut into your harness. It will charge a phone but it cannot keep up if you are planning on using it for a GPS or listing to music all day. I mounted mine in the bag just have the wire draped over the top of the bag under the lid. Also installed one in some hard bags too for a friend and they charge 2 Iphones at the same time. I don't like the charging adapter simply because I don't like wire clutter.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
This is what I did. I got a plug that plugs into the battery tender plug. Then I mounted a "side-wall mount" cigarette style DC plug to the rear wall near the top front of my saddle bag. Then I cut the power supply plug wires to the length I needed and soldered/shrink wrapped the battery tender plug wires to it. Now I have a DC power supply for anything right in my saddle bag.
Since I travel across country a few times a year, I use my phone as both my GPS and my blue-tooth MP3 player but the battery goes dead after about 2 hours. I tried a few USB plugs that plug into a cigarette lighter but most do not keep the phone charging faster than it drains.
Then I found that you must have a USB plug that puts out 2 or 2.1 Amps. Most all of them , including HD's plug, only puts out 1 or 1.2 Amps and that takes for ever to charge your devices up and will not keep up with the drain of power by using the GPS, Blue-tooth and texting while going down the highway on your bike. (I know I shouldn't but...).
I then ran a long USB cable from the plug in my saddle bag, under the seat and under the gas tank all the way to the front where I have it strapped to my handlebar risers. Then I use an 8" power cord to plug into my phone or blue-tooth headset when charging is needed. Works great.
I can charge/use as I move; will re-charge from empty 3 times; can become charged 110, or batt connection.
