I have a problem. I have a 05 heritage, fuel injected, and after the light goes off I start my bike. Shortly after ignition, the light comes back on until I pull out of my spot. I have read the codes and nothing is stored. It also does it after I clear it and it still stores nothing. Anyone have this problem? It runs fine and really doesn't hurt anything that I can see but I want to know what is happening. thanks.
I'm not sure what is happening with your bike, but I can say without a doubt that if you take it to a dealer, they will find something wrong with it... Whether or not its the cause of the "idiot light" or not. I've been riding for 39 years and can say proudly thatI'vve been able to fix almost everything that has popped up. Except maybe heliarcing my cases where the excess engine parts came out of,on a road trip 1500 miles from home. That said, good luck in tracking down the gremlins. I love the relative simplicity ofmy '94 Heritage Classic, but the bare bones '65 CH Sportster I rode in the 80's was a joy. There wasn't even a battery to power an idiot light...just a generator and two lights and a magneto for go go sparks. Damn I miss that bike. Arlen Ness low stretched hardtail frame with a 45* rake and a long skinny springer fork...dangerous as Hell but looked great! Rode it across the deserts from San Diego to Houston and Oklahomaa few times.Am I a bad person to hope the rat crap bastard who stole it caughtsome painful STDand died???
The stealer will NOT get it. I cleared the code. I read somewhere that more than 5 revolutions to start will result in stored code. I had a dead battery that one time and... You can go from there. I hope it will not pop its ugly head back up. I miss the simplicity of older bikes, I'm in my late 20's but still appreciate simplicity.
others on the board may chime in but this may not be a abnormal thing i think my 05 deluxe does that as well i think i remember a thread on to this same question and it turn out they all do it and is normal esp with no codes stored. what say everyone else

If it is running well, you probablly don't have to do anything. The code will clear after a number of restarts. I had the same issue on my 2002 Heritage. It cleared up and went back to normal after the number of restarts and has been fine for several years now.
