anybody got a fix for this?

Last fall, 2nd last ride before putting the bike away for the winter, I pulled into my garage and went to lock-up the bike... I put the barrel key in and turned it to lock and pulled out the key and the barrel came out with the key!

bikes a 2000 softail deuce.

Help! any thoughts other than replacing the whole switch?

Are you talking about the ignition switch? If so, there are no individual replaceable - 1 piece switch only.

If you are talking about the frame lock, there is a small set screw that holds it in.

 

It's the ignition switch...

local Harley shop wants 140.00 for the whole switch...

 

These switches often fail. You can pick one up from JP cycles for about 60 bucks. Comes with 2 keys.

 

Go talk to a locksmith, maybe he has a simple solution.

 

I put a new one on my 99 roadking last year I believe it was only like 26 bucks or so only took about 1/2 hour to put on easy fix bought from j&p cycle just have a different key for the ignition and stock key for the bags and handle bar lock.

 

don't know why I didn't think after-market...
