I finally settled on the National Switchblade 2 Up with the matching chrome lower wind deflectors. Wind buffetting has almost completely stopped & riding in cold weather is much easier. The combo works very well together.
Try Sportech windshields. You will have to google the website. I am thinking about ordering one for my FXSTC. They look well made and small like the Windvest shields. You can remove them without any tools. Something to look at anyway....................
ok what is a good deal ?? I have a std and did not buy the detach thought I would never need it.. tried to pm but that is temp. down...
ORIGINAL: O6FXST
I had been looking at a Windvest because they are so minimal and I have read a lot a good reviews on the forum. I was standing in line to register at Bikefest in Las Vegaswhen a stranger overheard me talking about them. He had bought one for his wife's sporty and she didn't like it so he gave it to mefor free(can't beat a deal like that)!.
It is a clear 14"Windvest and I put it on my standard yesterday. It has been very windy here and I have been testing it yesterday and today. Iam very happy with it and plan to leave it on the bike. I bought a HD detachable windshield soon after I bought the bike but could not get used to it. Although it does provide a lot of protection from the wind, it is so big and I got a lot ofupdraft from below. The windvest is hardly noticeable and it provides excellent protection from the wind, I can also hear my bikes exhaust really well too. If you want a good deal on the detachable let me know.
Golfblues, the photo of the 06 FXST shows chrome lower deflectors. Where did you get those? I have an 03 FXST with a harley windshield and have been searching for chrome deflectors.
Ok Golfblues... I answered my own question after reading the thread. Do you know if the National Cycle deflectors will fit on the detachable harley windshield mounts?
GTrog, Did you ever get an answer to your question on the chrome lower deflectors? I'm interested in getting some for my FXST, I also have a HD detachable windshield.
I was looking for one also. Had one on my 84 that wasn't much bigger than a VCR tape. It was called a "tombstone" and did a good job. Can't find em any more (at least I couldn't). I got a "Wind Vest" and although it's bigger than I would like it is smaller the the H-D ones. They are pricey but you can find them on Ebay. I paid $81.00 for mine there and it does a pretty good job.
