Default Installing security system and SSII at same time

My bike came with no factory security system and I want to install the system and Smart Siren II at the same time so I only have to disconnect the battery one time. Has any one done this or is it advisable to install and setup the security system firstand make sure it works properly and then install the SS II. I couldn't find this question any place on the forum. Thanks! I would have had the dealership do it but they wanted to charge me 3 hours labor for a price of $180. I asked the service manager why so much and he said they had to take the fuel tank off! He must think I just got off the turnip truck. I told him it is all behind the inner fender and he acted surprised. What a joke! So I decied to do this myself. He needs to read the Service Manual!

I can't help you on this one. But I must say I'm wondering about the fine dealership you asked about putting it on. Take off the tank??? Can't say I'd have much confidence that they would give me an honest price on work in the future. Good luck.

couldn't find this question any place on the forum
This information is in the DIY and Tech sections of this forum. I found this place by Googling up info on the TSSM.

The siren is just plug into a pre-existing jack on the harness so you can do that with or without disconnecting the battery and it only adds a couple of minutes to the install of the alarm.

The most time consuming part will be "teaching" your ECM to "marry" to the new TSSM. Follow the procedure in the DIY section of this forum.

Or better yet, spend a few bucks for the Service, Electrical Diagnostics, and Parts Manual for your bike. Don't scrimp on good tools.
