Weird Starting Issue
Was out riding with a buddy and we stopped for gas. After refueling, He hit the start button on his 06 Heritage, heard a 1/2 of a click then all went dead. Nothing shows when Ignition is on but we do get a display when it is turned to acc. OK looks like a bad switch to me ... went and got a switch, came back and installed it. Turned it to Ign and viola ... we show power. Press the start button heard 1/2 a click again and once again no power. If we let the bike sit an hour or so it acts like it "resets" itself until you hit the start button then it clicks and dies.
Checked Battery Terminals for tightness. Good to go there.
Checked all fuses and all are OK.
Checked the battery and it tests good ... twice.
Replaced switch ( as mentioned above )
At a loss ... any suggestions or prior experience with this issue?

Another thing to check: the battery terminal. If the cables have ever worked loose or not been tightened enough, arcing between the cable and the terminal can pit the terminal. If that has happened, the cable will appear tight, but will not let a good connection be made.
The symptoms sound like a bad main breaker. It's located in front of the rear tire splash guard. Very inexpensive item. There are two terminal post on this breaker; one colored copper and the other silver. The voltage regulator and ignition switch connect to the silver post. From the copper post is a wire which connects to the same post on the starter that the battery cable is connected to.
Problem solved.
Despite having two shops check the battery, it was the battery. They both "checked" the battery and saw 12.75 volts on it and assumed it was good. After checking all the grounds and connections I could get my hands on, I hooked my charger to the battery and walked off. Went back an hour later to check the status and there was a code flashing ... Overheated battery due to a bad cell.
Replaced the battery and it fired right up.
Thank you to all those who offered help and suggestions.
