To me i pretty much rode every bike dyna ,softail and even touring over the years owning and testing.. The main thing is even if you test them at the dealership its still not enough.. Takes weeks to learn a bike and decide if you like it or not.. It will give you the basic idea tho.. But the other thing is you actually when buying in the same family of bikes can choose buy looks.. All softails are really the same bike with just different mods. You can change the seat and set up for more comfort and ridability on any of them. Just like the Slim i sat on one at the dealer 2 years ago didnt know if i really liked it then mainly because i thought the stock seat suck a$$.. So right off the bat i know for a fact thats the first mod i do if i get it.. Same with the Breakout those drag bars will kill being bent over for a peroid of time so you change them out for pull back ones and transform the ride.. Its so hard to decide on a bike in stock form at a dealer.. Even then 80% of your decision most times is what look you like the best at that time.. And then when you get it home you make the bike fit...
True... only bike that I have not had to make any changes to (as far as comfort) has been the Road King...
But the seat of the Slim was very comfortable for me. And I love the looks of it.
But it sounds like you know what you want then... go with the Breakout.
They are both nice.. Im thinking i would be more comfy on the Slim tho.. The Slim is like my Fatboy lo and i loved the floorboards and seating and handling.. The Breakout reminds me of my Nighttrain but on steroids the clam shell position and pegs werent a match made in heaven for me even tho i loved my train.. But as i even said different handle bars ,seats and accessories can change all that anyway! Dont think the Breakout would be able to rock Footboards tho.. Which i do love over pegs..
Thats interesting its tied 15 to 15 as of right now.. 50% split.. Kinda goes with what more then one dealer told me that there both flying off the shelves lately.. They dont keep either on the floor very long compared to other bikes..
You get a classic carbureted Evo, a springer front end with a 21" wheel, most parts blacked out except for a few touches of chrome, and you get to save thousands of dollars.
I think it has what you are looking for in both a slim and a breakout.
Breakout gets my vote. I love mine. Rides good and looks even better. The Slim doesn't appeal to me at all. FYI 24V put floorboards on his Breakout and did a write up on it. Doesn't look good IMO but he seems to like them and it just shows that you can put floorboards on the BO

Ya thats what i was saying when i said i didnt think the Breakout would be able to Rock the Floorboards.. I ment i didnt think it would look good.. I dont know man ive seen some wicked looking Slims out there all customized.. I think they both look good in 2 different ways..
Here's an interesting fact.. The friggin lean angle is even worse on the Breakout then the Super low Slim.. Breakout lean angle 23.4 vs Softail Slim 24.9 So basically with that big fat rear tire and 23.4 lean angle on the Breakout it seems like its more of a straight line bike.. At least the Slim has the skinny rear wheel for amazing handling from what i here. That 23.4 lean angle is crazy..
