Default Opinions wanted on New seat for 07 Fatboy

The stock seat on the 07 fatboy is killing me. I am looking at the mustang seats but I read reviews on how people thought it felt the same as the stock seat. I am also looking at the sundowner seat by harley. Some say it takes the look away from the bike. I like the look on the stock seat but it lacks for any type of support and comfort. Bottom line is I don't know what route to take. I am 6'1", 210 lbs with street slammer bars. I don't need luxury but comfort is needed for rides over 20 miles. Any help is much appreciated!!!!!

I agree, 20 miles is all I could take on the stock seat.
I've riden about 3 hours on my "Mustand Wide Vintage Solo" at one time several times and no numb butt whatsoever.
I'm 6' 210 lbs.

I really like the looks of the Corbin Gunfighter too.
But they say it takes a 1,000 miles to break it in.
The Mustang was great right out of the box.

Mine is an '05, but having tried both the Mustang and the Sundowner I much preferred the Sundowner for comfort. Not the prettiest seat in the world though...

Yea this is a tough one, stock seat kills my butt too but the Sundowner I tried was both ugly as sin and also uncomfortable to me. I think for the most part guys are happy with Mustangs and Corbins with a few that weren't, maybe you'll be one of the happy majority. Me..I'm just gonna tough it out for now and see what else comes out in the future from HD. I have a feeling I may end up ordering a Mustang solo tho and giving it a shot, just I know even if its a keeper I will most likely have to do some other adjustments via bars..risers to make it all work.

If you like the look of the stock seat but looking for more comfort. How about trying a member on these fourms called BAD X I have read many reviews from people on here and other fourms that really llike the seat mods he does on stock seats. Should save you some money also.

I had to switch to the sundowner since my butt was killing me on longer trips. I can now ride for a full tank without any problems. The Sundowner has the lower back rest that helps a lot. This is also the one thing that makes it look a bit unusual.

The cost of the sundowner is half of the cost of a Corbin or a Mustang, so you might try to get your dealer to loan you a Sundowner for a ride to see it it will work for you.

I sold a fatboy sundowner for $100 back a few months ago for a friend of mine. So you might want to check the buy and sell section of this forum for a super deal on a Sundowner.

I originally replaced my stock seat with an HD Sidekick seat...didn't feel it provided enough support. I ordered a Corbin Gunfighter and have never looked back! Like all Corbins it takes a while to break in, but it is an awesome seat!

Good luck!

Steve

Where is the best place to get a Corbin seat? Corbin's website prices are high; certainly someone must sell them for a little less. I am lookin at the C&C solo seat, but I do have the Gunfighter & Lady seat on my 88 Honda Hawk GT and it is nice (that is after I had Seargent do a full recover on it).

I had the same problem with my 06 stock seat. My upper back hurt so bad after about twenty miles I'd have to stop for coffee. I looked at the Mustang seats but ended up with the HD seat w/ rider back rest 51560-00A. This was considerably cheaper and the back rest made all the differance. I can ride for hours now. My butt gets sore after 2+ hours but it's getting better as the seat breaks in. I plan on getting one of those gell pads at Americade next month.

The rider back rest is removeable with the touch of a button. This is nice for those short trips around town. My wife liked this seat over the stock seat as well. The stock seat slopes toward the front of the bike which caused her to keep sliding fwd when I came to a stop. The new seat is close to parallel with the the ground.

I'm very happy with my C&C Seats "Solo" seat.
