windshield on a breakout?
Or to end up this a black one... Though it is a bit loosing variant.
Want one more?
Here's my Deuce which is a lot like your Breakout.
I wanted a shield to tour with it and needed it to allow all day rides without buffeting.
Living just outside NYC getting out of town took me a couple hours on the interstate where cars go 80 mph and higher as do the trucks. You have to keep up and even pass these critters so I was shooting for stability at 90.
I bought a Windvest but never got it to work great.
Bought a couple of Memphis Shades which had more coverage but still buffeting at higher speeds.
Finally bought National Cycle F15 Touring and made brackets to fit it in any angle or distance in search of perfect air flow. Voila!
I painted the inside with plastic paint but it looks great plain and I may go that route if I repaint my bike.
The picture of it on my Triumph shows how I use bracket strapping to mount it to the handlebar clamp and also fasten it underneath the headlight. It is solid at 100.
Key things I learned about making it work without upsetting handling was to get it raked back to 38 degrees which is more than a stock Harley shield for instance.
That makes it more streamlined and less twitchy when you pass through the wake of big trucks at 85 mph. Yet at the same time it is as tall as it can be for maximum coverage.
And I learned that it likes to have a gap between the bottom of the shield and the headlight so that it breaks the vacuum produced by the shield.
Shield Suction makes your helmet bobble forwards and backwards and is uncomfortable for both rider and especially passenger.
By the way the thing that sealed the deal for the F15 Touring is that it has a flip up lip which gains another foot of buffet free air space above the top of the shield. This helps it work great just like flip lips are supposed to.
FWIW.
It works and take the wind off the body, can feel it at speed > 100 km/h. Airflow to the face remains at place, the shield is too small.
My verdict is - satisfied.
