I am almost embaressed to admit that I put my kickstand down today, turned off my bike and dropped it on its right side thinking the kick stand was going to hold my bike up. I had a complete brain lapse. Ive never done anything like that in my life. Just had my big radius pipes puton my 07 Fatboy and now have some scratches on the ends of the heat shields near the scallops.
I am going to wait a while before I do something about it. Does anyone know ifI can buy replacement heat shields and how much are they?? Are they easy to install?? It seems to be an easy problem to fix butI fell like a complete moron. Thanks for the help.
sorry about your bike, but hey we all have a moment now and then, for me it was crossing rail road tracks on an angle andinsted of my bike going overthe front wheel slid along the side of the tracks and went down, worst of it all is that i was in a pack of riders. but yea go to the vance and hines web site and they sell replacement heat shields and then its a matter of hose clamps, easy, good luck
Don't feel bad, we've all done it! I did mine with my Honda VTX a year or so back...we were moving into our new house andI had to get the bike from the old house...about50 miles in 40 degree weather at night. When I got to the new houseI was so damn cold my legs wouldn't move fast enough when I came to a stop in the garage! Fell over like a damn house of cards! Bad thing was, my wife had followed me the whole way and saw it as it happened! She knew I was okay because of the way I jumped up and out of the way...and she knew I was hot! At myself! She just sat in the car a few moments while I stood there in disbelief with my hands on my hips, shaking my head andcussing, and trying to get that SOB back upright! I felt like a serious peckerhead! Had a good laugh an hour or so and a few beers later...and sure glad it was my Honda and not my Fat Boy!
V+H sell replacement shields but they are pricey! Easy to put on though!
The BR pipes have the baffle and heatsheild in the last section of the pipes. So you would have to I would assume pull out the baffles and install on the new heat sheild section ?

The heatshields are simply a slip on cover on the outsideof the pipes and since he just scratched the heatshields I don't think the baffles have to be touched.
yeah we all do it....when i had my sportster, i decided to make a last minute right turn into my bros subdivision to see if he wanted to go on my cruise with me....gravel? not good while turning quick, on the brakes to slow down...hit the ground pretty hard...the extremely hot dame in the car behind me stopped to ask if i was ok...i said yeah fine, and she got in her car laughing as she drove away...didnt even put on her nurse costume to bandage me up...hahaha....yeah dont feel bad...as for your heat sheild...these guys sound like theyre pointing you in the right direction.
