After putting the windshield all the way to the highest setting I lost all of the windshield by my triple trees,I have my nose height but need more down lower, thats what we were trying to figure out, should be ok with the taller one so I can have the bottom covered by more shield, hope that makes sense, keep my nose and add low..

I got a couple PMs on how I cut my windshield, so I thought it would be good to post in public so anyone interested could see.

On my '06 Deluxe, I'm using the "Nostalgia" windshield QR. Referencing the photo, it is 7" from the top of the crossbar to the top of the plastic (red arrow). Then 17" wide overall (green arrow). I also had to trim the headlight hole to fit around my freight train nacelle.

If you've got a windshield screen you're not using, might be worth a try. It may not work the same for everyone due to different bike set-ups, different personal height, handlebars, etc. Aerodynamics is a funny thing.

At any rate, as I've said before, this mod cuts the wind pressure significantly to my mid section, and puts my helmet in clean air, cutting the helmet buffeting to near zero. I wear a full face helmet. If you're wearing a beanie helmet, this may not be for you. That's as good a disclaimer as you;re gonna get. But you won't know until you've tried it. The only thing at risk is a bit of time, a spare wind screen, and possibly cutting off your fingers if you're a total clutz. Proceed with caution!

Thanks Again, Mike!

I think this is a great idea, and I appreciate you taking the time to measure your 'shield for those of us that may want to try this mod.

I always wear a full face helmet, so this may just work for me.

If you're having the problem of wind under the shield shooting up your legs and lifting/buffeting your helmet you might try those lowers from Memphis Shades. They mount on the fork below the windshield. Made a big difference on the Springer! They have the mounts to fit pretty much anything.

Being IN the wind is what I like about riding a bike. If I wanted to get away from it, I'll drive my car.

skydive much? Someday they'll make a shield for that LOL.
That said... Windshields do come in handy at times. Why they also make QD's.
