I have 3 different seats so keeping the registration and insurance card under seat did not work with my "convertible" bike. I mounted the unit (link below) on the bottom of my 'plate and I am quite happy.

(Strongly agree that the registration should not be required in case of a stop).

Registration holder is just visible in this shot at the bottom of the license plate. I tried it on my Bobbed Slim fender, it worked there as well.
Great solution Jetfever! OP IMHO this is the ticket.

Won't work with my plate setup + I don't want to have to get off the bike to retrieve papers. Thx though.

Default papers

a small threaded pvc pipe with caps, is the best I have seen , small waterproof takes up very little space.

lol first of all, how often do you get pulled over? This isn't an everyday event for me, but perhaps that's just me.

And if you don't want to get of the bike then you have only two options. 1. Carry your papers on your person or 2. Get a tank pocket.

If you didn't want to get off the bike you should have stated that cause we've wasted a lot of time trying to help you with options!

He said he didn't want to have to take the seat off. I get that.

But if he doesn't want to get his butt off the seat at all, that's something completely different and if that's his desire he has only two options as I typed.

I'm sorry he has a third option, he could tuck it in his sweater.

I like that CVO tank plate, I wouldn't change it for a pocket either.

This is a cool idea. How and where did you mount the PVC pipe, and did you paint it?

That's a good question. The last time I was pulled over was sometime in the early 1990s. But still, being prepared is a good thing.

Lots of options that have been put out there. Pick the one that suits you best.

in my wallet.

about the only time i need them is to renew the tags (though you're required to have it if you're stopped). this is my renewal month and if the bike is too hard to get to (i have a shamefully junky garage) and has accumulated some stuff around it over the winter, i don't feel like getting to it to get papers.

doesn't take up that much room anyway (three bikes worth) and just seems like the easiest way to do it.
