Default Gas poured out exhaust!

If I could just leave it alone. My bike only has 3000 miles. 1300 when I got it a month ago. It's a 2001. The guy I bought it from put the miles on it in the past 2 years and it sat for the other 14. It was almost perfect when I got it, although i did have a cough at high speeds so I changed intake gaskets and complete clean of carb. Super E. Since then I wanted to change my levers, which resulted in brake light switch issue, replaced switch and had a hell of a time getting my throttle cables not to bind. All day yesterday I was trying to get the cables to properly snap back. I had been having issues with carb tuning due to my inexperience. I would get it to base setting but it just wasn't quite right. Sometimes it seemed I would be at such high RPMS too soon seeming and deceleration pop occasionally. So I had been messing with carb also. Finally got the throttle cables not to bind when the housing all put back together. My petcock has been closed since a couple of weeks ago I thought I smelled gas in oil and it looked a little frothy, running hot i believed. My oil doesn't look like my buddies but that could be due to the fact he has 30,000 miles on his 2001. Right? So I did oil change, did the float bowl rebuild. Started it up and gas came out overflow. Wrong float level. Went back in and fixed level no more overflow. Set carb got great throttle response but a little of the pop and some low speed jerk. Got the low speed jerk out but then had the winding out power struggle. Decided to do the brake switch and now back to yesterday. Half way through the day of trying to get housing back together and throttle cables to push pull correctly. I started to smell gas. Figured it was due to me pulling throttle but didn't think I needed to do anything. Went to start it last night, set carb at base levels, not real sure on the speed set screw thought engagement was when I saw throttle dial move a little. It was night time hadn't ridden in a couple days so I put choke on and tried starting, barely made noise. So I turned up idle screw and tried again this time it did try turning over but no fire. Only tried twice then noticed gas pouring out exhaust pipe. Mostly the rear but alot. Plug was a little wet around edges, oil smelled ok. Going to drain oil without warming up simply cause don't want try running first. My question is did I load up my carb so much with trying to adjust throttle, then with choke on it was too much. Is it due to vacuum from throttle pulling that petcock is unable to hold gas back. Should I put a little oil in to top of cylinders just to coat rings before i try starting it again after oil change. My oil didn't smell of gas could it just have come out by being dumped the first time of trying to start and isn't down in cases. It makes me sick I keep causing these problems. How else am I suppose to check the cables without yanking on throttle? Should I have removed fuel line, check petcock? The more I touch the more I cause myself trouble. P.S. Nothing came out overflow during the attempted start up. I wheeled it back in garage and went to bed. Going to start fresh this morning. Would love some step by step and possible explanation as to why this time adjusting throttle with gas off did this. Have done the throttle cable many times since I've had so much trouble with housing, lever and brake switch issues. Everything hasn't gone back together easily for me and so I seem to have to do over and over. I'm learning everything the hard way. I try to follow manuals and do a bunch of research but it isn't as easy as it says sometimes. I love to learn I just don't want to screw up my bike which was perfect when I got it and at this route I may blow the damn thing up. Funny a nickname is Bomb. Don't feel I need to pay a shop just to change grips or levers or change oil but shoot if it's taking me all day with results like this maybe I should. What did I do wrong? Do you think I can just put a little oil in cylinder, try starting without choke, then check oil for gas. I only cranked it twice last night maybe it just pushed all that gas out, never happened before. In the beginning fired right up beautifully, idled like a dream, lots of throttle. Now what? I just want to ride. Shorty Super E and WCC Hellbent pipes. Born a 2001 FXSTDI

Never mind my punctuation or grammar. Is that all you've got? I'm looking for some advice not insults. It's English and you can read. This place just isn't for me I guess. Take care.

Stuck float, fuel fills the float bowl then through the manifold into the heads. It will come out the exhaust and get into the crank case through the intake valves. Clean the carb again, use a new float needle and seat and change your oil.

are you shutting off the fuel valve when you park it? maybe something is stopping the float from closing the inlet valve. if the fuel line is old gunk may be flaking off an causing the problems.

What the hell kind of biker forum is this? I didn't realize that this was an English class. The guy needs help with his bike and all you educated, yuppie "bikers'' could do was pick on his grammar.

The float is not doing its job, for sure. Worse case stick another carb on it to see.
