Springer rebound springs
When I got the forks , I noticed that the 2 top rebound springs had a little rust , so I ordered an new set . I was about to just go ahead and remove the two acorn nuts , the bridge piece , and then the two larger nuts holding the two rebound springs .
I took a quick look on the internet and I keep seeing that I have to make some sort of brace with a threaded rod to keep the larger springs compressed ?
Maybe I'm missing something here but looking at the front end , the two main springs seem to be held by the bottom plate of the spring fork , and the top plate , just below the risers .
I went out and slowly loosened that nut on top of the rebound spring ,which seemed to be loose with almost no tension on it , but did not take the nut all the way off , because of what I've been reading .
It seems like they will just come off , but I didn't want to chance it .
Anybody do this before ??
Thanks for any input .
