I've been researching the Softail systems, and this is the one I am looking at.
Does everything the Shotgun setup does, but has billet machined shock bodies, instead of a single body that seems to have leaking issues that the Shotgun does.

Softail Platinum air suspension

One year warranty doesn't bring a lot of confidence to the table for me.

I used the softailloweringkit.com kit and the ride isn't much different that stock. I don't know how you can say after looking at prices the shotgun system even comes close to other systems price wise. The softail lowering kit is $80 and took me all of an hour to put it on. I agree the shotgun system is the best but I personally would rather take the $1420 I saved and use it somewhere else.

Would be very easy to take it back to stock height, but 14,000 miles later I would have no reason to. Now does it ride like a touring rig? hell no, but the stock softail doesn't. Maybe I am just used to bikes riding harsher than most.

To me, a one year warranty is fine, if it's a quality product. Lifetime warranty means ****, if your bike is down every 6 months do to a problem, or if the company folds, like that never happens in the motorcycle aftermarket world.
I've got no *** to kiss in this, so my opinion is unbiased.
Most people I've noticed, that uses someones product, tends to defend it, tooth and nail, regardless of the competitions quality.

I absolutely agree that the warranty is only one of many factors to consider.

Another is the overall design of a system.

Here's a post from one person who has experience with both and found issues with Platinum's design. (not *** kissing any company or person, just sharing one of the only posts I could find from someone who has had both to help you in your research -- research I've been doing lately as well before just choosing to order the Shotgun last week)
