Depends on what your budget is. Your best bet for all around riding and adjustability would be air ride. Everyone around here seems to like the shotgun shock. Its around $1500 for the complete set up. Progressive makes new shocks that are adjustable with rap which is a little **** that you mount on the side of the bike to adjust them. I think those are around $450 with out the **** and something like $700 with the **** to be able to adjust them easier. Then there are bolt kits that just replace the stock shock bolts. Personally I am going with the bolt kit from softailloweringkit.com until I can get the shotgun shock which will hopefully be next winter.

Progressive 422's will lower up to 2 inches or they have a kit to put on your stock shocks
check their website, directcycleparts.com had the best price I found on the 422's.
Per my conversation with Progressive they don't recommend more then 1.5 drop.
Good luck with it, Merry Christmas.

Cheap = Lowering bolts
Better = Progressive 422's
Best = Shotgun Shock air suspension.

I used Progressives w/RAP. They have worked well on my Night Train. Do not get the heavy duty shocks, I weigh 160# and I have them as loose as they will go to get some semblance of sag. Normal duty shock will do unless your a really big dude riding 2 up all the time. I also used the Progressive cartridge inserts to lower the front as well.

Here is a close up of mine after lowering. I have an indy mechanic who is a Night Train fanatic and this is as low as he recommended to lower with Progressive shicks.

Heres mine with the softailloweringkit.com 2" kit. I really didn't notice much difference in ride. I want to do an air ride kit one day, but the 4x4 look had to go immediately.

Shotgun. Once you figure the cost of the other systems, installation and purchase price, you will be better off with the Shotgun. If you ever needed to raise it up, two up riding or road conditions or ???, you just hit the switch and air that bad boy up...
