So so I have searched and read this forum for some time but cannot find a difinitve answer to my question.
I know now many people like the HH, Lundal and EBC brake pads and 6 piston calipers as an upgrade.
I also know the 11.8 inch rotors are a direct bolt on assuming the proper caliper.
My question: I have a 14 heritage with the smooth laced wheels and would like to put on the 13 inch rotor and caliper setup from any of the above mentioned companies. I am leaning toward the lundal composit rotors and associated pads and using 6 piston calipers.
My my goal is to get a better brake feel as I have found myself in two or three situations where the front brake seems as if it's just too hard to pull for the braking response.
Yes i I have taken it to the dealer and they say it's normal and after reading this forum the consensus is that this is typical for this model.
Will the 13 inch parts bolt up without issue? Are the stock 16 inch wheels going to interfere? If so I will just go with the 11.8 but figured if I'm going to upgrade then go as big as possible to maximize braking effectiveness so I was hoping the 13s will fit with no issues.
13" lyndall rotor will mount straight up. Not all companys do a calliper for 13" that simply bolts on but I know PM do a nice 6 piston that is moulded with longer mounts specifically for the 13" rotor. No need for spacers.
I honestly don believe there would be. But if I remember in a weeks time when I'm home next I'll roll out one of the 16" wheels and measure it up for you
Consider checking with QTMI for a Brembo package. I bought a Brembo 4 pad caliper for my Heritage and it performs way better than a populat 6 piston I had on prior.
I have a bit different setup but want you to know it's a much better brake that what was on there. I have a 2011 Fatboy Lo and found the front brake to be pretty much underwhelming. I have 17" wheels that are cast rather than spoked and went with a 13" disc and 6 piston caliper from PM. Used the stock handle bar reservoir and upgraded the brake line to a braded one. Much better in my book and am still using the pads that came with the caliper.
