Discontinied Deuce?
They made the FXRS-Conv. then it became the FXDS-Conv. in 1994. The FXDS-Conv. went away in 2000 and the T-Sport attempted to replace it. Didn't quiet work out very well. Somethings come back and are not as good as the originals!
The Electra Glide Sport went away in 1993/1994....and the Road King went online. The Road king is still HOT after all these years. It will continue to be HOT for along time.
Currently, the Softails and Dynas are not the hottest selling HD motorcycles. The baggers and Sportsters are the hot items of today. Just a few years ago....the Softail was the hot item. They discontinue models when it is selling poorly and when other bikes are selling hot. They focus attention to hot selling models, simply because that is where the money is.
The Wall Street Journal reported that sales of new Harleys are off 15% this year from last year. (Which was also a down year.)
Gone are the days when you had to get on a waiting list for a year or two. Gone are the days when the stealer would mark the bike up a couple of grand over msrp and then you could sell your position for even more when your order was in. Gone are the days when you could sell your used bike for the price of a new one just because of the waiting lists.
I bought the Deuce below with 3,500 miles on it. It came with factory saddlebags and brackets, windvest windshield, seat, backrest, luggage rack, stage 1, chrome, factory custom paint etc. I paid $12,000 for it and the original owner was into it for $23k.
I like this better than the "good ole days."

Let's face it. Harley is regrouping. The dot-com boom is long over and sales of new bikes are way down. Add to that the fact that Harley has two new expensive factories and you see that dealers are flooded with new bikes.

My 1999 Dyna Convertible is a totally different story though. Paid around $16,000 for it new. Eight years and 37,000 miles later....it is only worth around $10,000. Looking at new prices of bikes, it will be hard to even get $10,000 out of it. For just a little more....you can get a new Dyna with huge Twin Cam, EFI, and six gears.
I think the carburetored bikes will gain in value eventually over EFI. Most likely, a 20 year old carburetor will work as opposed to a 20 year old EFI system. That carburetor can be replaced cheap and easy....parts for that old EFI? Might be tough someday.
Keep it long enough....who knows? Cannot predict the market.
Why don't they just get rid of the bottom end sportsters instead.... or they could be HUMAN and do what's right and keep them ALL going as long as at least one person will buy each !!

From what I have researched it is a pretty DONE DEAL!! That sux! I really like the Deuce and it is great to have a few softtail options. I guess anybody with an 07 Deuce would be happy... could be a collectors item of the future!!
