Ugh! I'm so irritated. Last night, I went to install this turn signal relocation kit and what do you know, the third bolt, a t45 buttonhead style, stripped. I'm not sure if I caused it, or if it was there. I'm sure I didn't help.
Anyways, there is obviously some locktite on it, but I can turn it clockwise a little bit, so the inside isn't completely round.
I can get pliers onto the head, I just couldn't turn it.
I'm thinking vice grips, or pound a t50 in there.
Has anyone ever used those Irwin Bolt Grips? My bolts have lines on them, not sure what they are for, but it seems like these bolt grip might be able to grab it.
The Irwins work great, but I'm not sure there's enough meat on a buttonhead for them to grab onto? They kinda suck the bolt head into them as you turn.
Buy them & try them... great to have in the toolbox anyway.

Sorry for the terrible picture. I took it last night. The head actually does have some meat that I think I could grab with vice grips. (Bags are in the way when I took the photo, but those easily can be removed). Maybe there is enough toom for the irwin bolt grip?
Yeah, torx bolts kinda suck. I've stripped my share.
If worse comes to worst, I've had success using JB weld. Take a torx head that will fit in the stripped bolt, goop it with the JB weld and shove it in. I use a strip of masking tape to kinda hold it in place. Let it set a day, then remove. Granted you may be out a torx head, but they're cheap.
I have had some success using a small chisel on stuck or stripped buttonheads. Start off by hitting it straight in near the outside til you get a decent groove started, then tilt the chisel and start pecking.
