Default New member- FLSS ?

My throttle seems to have about an inch of forward past the resting position. Is that a new feature and if so, what's it for?

Thanks

Welcome! Throttle may have to do with the fly by wire throttle on the bigger bikes?

If you move the dial to ignition and throttle up and hold for 3-5 seconds it changes parade mode on and off.

It you are using cruise control and want to disengage you can throttle up and it will disengage cruise control.

Well, now y'all have me curious. I checked the manual on my 2016 FLSTC (Heritage Softail Classic) and I can't find any reference to the word "parade" other than....bike gets hot.

Do I have this feature? How can I confirm it? Does "parade mode" go by another name?

Let me guess, dealer said "thank you" and waved goodbye without explaining anything. It's a feature so if your bike's getting hot you can put in "parade mode" or "limp mode" or whatever you want to call it. Cancels ignition to rear cylinder = less heat.

AH! The "limping" stuff. I saw that. Anyone actually use this? We did a "parade" in the RoT Rally (Republic of Texas) in Austin a couple weeks ago. Was my first ride like that, we are new to the bikes. I would've given anything to a) cut down the heat and b) to just allow the bike to go slower w/o chugging and wanting to stall. (My clutch hand sure did get tired that day!)

Assuming I were to put it in that mode in the future, though, I'm assuming it's not something you can change on the fly, that you have to pull over, kill the engine, switch it back to regular? There were definitely stretches where I would've needed full power to keep up (and not get run over).

This mode is either enabled or disabled. If you turn your bike off it keeps the setting until re-enabled or disabled.

The rear cyclinder turns off after the engine gets to a certain degrees (I read 278F but I do. It know if that's accurate).

The rear cylinder will turn back in once you engage the clutch and or rev the engine. And it might it be so much engaging the clutch but when you start moving.

"Parade mode?" Wtf?

It's the EITMS system in your owner's manual. It'll tell you all about it.

Sorry for the messed up explanation above. I call it parade mode because that's what my dealer sales associate called it.

The best way to keep it with air flowing is to install some fans...

I installed the Wards Werks Cooling Fans... great fans to cool down the engine. And imho, best looking option out there.

Even with the shutdown of rear cylinder, before I installed the fans, heavy traffic conditions during bikeweek, would cause me to have to stop and shutdown (back when I had my RGC-CVO).
