For my wife, to replace her 09 and the Polaris Indian looking thing (gone), However it must have: Linked ABS, music (better than the add-on ones) cruise control, an option to get hard-bags,

M8 -> YES

110 -> No - It will be replaced by the M-8 that powers today's CVO (114)....and those will receive a new displacement (117)

They are going to offer M8 114 powered fatboys and heritage. Bet they have a new frame to. Twin Cam powered softails will see significant value loss like what happened to the 16 and earlier touring models when the M8 was introduced in the 17s.

The twin cam now moves to the history book, with the Evo, shovel, on and on. This new M8 will be with us for a long time.. Could be the last gas engine for Harley...who knows.

I would say you're right, I just bought a 17 deluxe, just shy of 3000 off of MSRP, hopefully that'll take a little bit of the sting away. I knew full well going in what was likely to happen, and I am very happy with my motorcycle and what I paid for it. That M8 is impressive, still the 103 for probably at least five grand less than the new 2018 MSRP will work just fine for my needs.

Some of these projections make me smile. Nobody but the mothership knows all the details.

IMO... If the M8 is offered in the Softail for 2018 it will be the 107 for a few years and then when the buying binge starts tapering off they will start offering some larger CI versions Like the "S" series.

Yes there was a dip in prices for the 2016 Touring bikes when the M8 came out, but the "used" 2016 prices rebounded after the first wave of trading calmed down.

America has always loved BIG motors in small packages and the S series Softails are just that. I am not worried one bit about the long term value of my S series HD. Their Power to weight ratio make them some of the most powerful "True" HD's ever produced to date.

I'm happy with my 110 Stage 5 Breakout some cars tried to pass me at high speed and they couldn't so my bike has plenty of power ....

They are unveiling all the 2018's next weekend at my home dealership (treasure Coast HD) in Florida, I'll still be north, but guessing they'll be showing them a Black Hills HD within a few days. I will see picts next weekend from here or from Florida..
