I have found the best possible combo and that is an IPOD shuffle (size of match book = 250 songs) and RAZER M100 ear buds. I have traveled at 80mph plus with no issues. The Razer buds have rubber ends and fit snuggly into your ears.
I agree with the vote for the iPod shuffle. Flash drive so no skipping. Small, easy to use, and inexpensive. The iPod Nano's are nice, but let's face it . . . you'll never really look at the screen while riding, there's just too mouch else to focus on. I use a set of the Shure E2C earphones. They block the wind noise, and make it easier to hear music without having to crank it up.
Since I'm a lil unknowing about ipods and such,I'll just descibe what I'd like to have and maybe someone can give me a idea of what might come close. In a perfrect world I wish I could just mount one of those digital music players moco sales and just plug the headphones right into it.I know those aremade to work in conjuction with the factory radio bikes though....and I have 1.25 drag bars.I'd like to have something in hands reach.I thought I saw some handle bar mounts for ipod some where, cause i really do'nt like have anything in pockets while riding.Any ideas?Clickable links are a plus.(lol)
kk ipod shuffle in ur pocket and ear buds in ur ears.. what is simpler? best yet it doesnt clutter up ur bike with stuff
and if ur crazy on charging stuff just mount one of them 12v plugs(for cigs) and get an adapter to charge ur music thingy or phone or someone elses phone.. or air compresser or whatever
i have the UC so i already have the connection and the speakers and plug the ipod right into the radio. but i have found that i didn't want to use the ipod to fast forward etc whicl driving. so i picked up a remote thing from radio shack. it has a wire connect to the ipod, but i can clip it on the windshield pockets. but the disadvantages are: buttons are small and hard to press especially while driving and with gloves on; i have to disconnect the wiring when leaving the bike so i can take the ipod with me (it sits in the windshield bag also).
so i have been checking out some wireless remotes. (doing a google with "wireless ipod remote" will bring up a bunch of sites) they run from like $40 on up. they were designed for the skier or snowboarder so they didn't have to worry about cords and all. one from monster has some fairly nice sized buttons and could be strapped around the handle bars within easy reach. and it is waterproof. this might be a really viable option.
I've used an MP3 and ear buds but with a half helmet the wind tends to pull the buds loose. I'm thinking of switching to a 3/4 helmet and the wife is pushing me to swap my traditional Sirius Satt receiver to a Stiletto w/ an integrated antenna
