I would say your price is a little on the up side. Don't give in too much.
I paid $6,500 for a pristine 99 FX Springer a year ago. I would say hold out until spring and shoot for $8,500 cash. If you don't have it sold by spring I just may consider it. PM me at the end of March.

I found two things:
People who own Springers usually love them and have unrealistic opinions of their worth...
People who really want a springer, will pay for it, but not to the point of being foolish..
Most of the Springer buyers are just looking for a deal on a cool bike....
NADA & KBB are usually high. Trade-in numbers are a combo of discounts of bike being bought and true trade-in value of bike trading in... Most places will give you a little less than auction rate for a trade-in bike or car over 3-5 years old... it's their guarantee of at least a minor profit...
You have a great bike! Unfortunately, there are not too many people around who know the true value of a good EVO bike... and most older Springers are completely and grotesquely customized..... You have a good Springer, but those who can both appreciate it and want to buy one, are rare and usually fairly frugal..
If you really want to sell, you should take anything over $6000. If you are willing to wait for awhile, dealing with looky-loos and low ballers, you might find that guy looking for a Springer much like yours... but he'll be knowledgeable about the bike and you may get $7K...
Good luck with the sale...

If you want/need it gone today 6 grand to 6500 would probably do that and still make it worth selling. If your willing to sit on it for a little bit but would LIKE to see it move without much fight id say 7500 on down to 7,000 depending on your mood or if the buyer is a pain in the ***. If your willing to sit on it a while and maybe sell it post it for 8500 and take 8. Putting it up at 9+ would lead me to think you and I will never see eye to eye on a low ball offer of what I would offer if I was in the market for a new ride of 7500 to keep both of us satisfied on the deal. Personally at that point (7500) I would think I did ok on the deal and you got a fair price. My 2 cents.

Thoughts...?
You were offered $8,000 as a trade towards a car.
That means you will realize $8,500 towards your car more or less because of the tax advantage of trading the bike in on a purchase.
In most states you do not pay the sales tax on trade-in value.
You have a Craiglist ad asking $9,500 and were probably hoping to really get $9,000.
The difference between your hope price and trade-in offer is $500 and you do not need to deal with tire kickers with a trade-in.
No taking calls or waiting for people to visit.
To be clear: hope price for bike $9,000, dealer offers you $8,000 but because of tax savings towards next vehicle it means $8,500 to your pocket.
If your vehicle deal is a good deal regardless of trade,if your numbers are good, if finance is correct and everything else is correct then it seems rather close to your real price.
The key is how is the vehicle deal and not the trade-in to really know the numbers.
Make sure the vehicle price is correct and your trade-in is not hidden in that 4 square game they like to play.
It does seem like a nice low mileage bike but the pictures could be a lot better and the detail in the pictures could be improved.
Seems like it could be a $9,000-$10,000 bike in some areas but the pictures would need to improve and it would need to be riding season.
I wonder what book the vehicle dealer is using to price that trade-in offer?
Why would you want to get rid of a nice bike?
