Just wanted to see for those who have m8 motors what exhaust are you guys going with. I'm trying to get ideas for my 2018 Heritage Classic Softail FLHCS. There's not many choices out there at the moment since this model is new
I've a 107 Heritage, and have tried two methods. 1st were some Rush Racing 3" slip-ons with 2 1/4" baffles. These puppies were right loud with a nice cam lope idle.
Then I sent my stock exhaust to American Custom. They bore thru the cat. and add some piping. Straight thru, front to back, they are a bit deeper than stock at idle. And open up much louder than stock at WOT. Not as loud as the Rush mufflers, which I like. Depends on your tastes. I'm selling the Rush, too loud for me.

How was the performance on the slip ons? You didn't have to get a tuner for them?
Preference seems to lean toward the Rhineharts 3.5". V&H eliminators sound just about the same, 3" diameter. Most slip ons will sound pretty similar and get similar results. I would wait on a tuner until after install to see whether you need it. Otherwise, Fuelmoto selling the Powervision at a great price.
One problem you may have is that some sellers will not ship to CA. I tried to buy the RH off JP Cycle and they said would not ship there. But Amazon did ship. Go figures.
As DonN suggests, try the slip-ons first. The Rush lost a little on the low end, but the throttle was more responsive, with a strong pull on WOT. Like I said, the Rush slip-ons were LOUD for me, but that's what some want. I made some "Torque Inserts " (small round inserts) that lowered the low and mid throttle sound, but made back most of the low end grunt. Now, with a tuner, WOW ! The Rush slip-ons with a Super tuner made the 107 a monster. But, the tuner voids warranty. You have to make choices. Me, I kept the super tuner maps, and went with the lower sound output of the American Custom exhaust.
I put the Rinehart slotted slip-ons on the wife's '18 Fatboy and we're really impressed with the sound, look and performance of them. They are kinda pricey though. We also considered and saw a set of the V&H 300's on a '18 Fatty and those were are close 2nd.
Running D&D exhaust on my Fatboy and they do have new pipes for the M8. I have been very pleased with the quality, sound, and performance. More choices to consider.
