I have a 1988 Heritage Softail with a remanufactured motor with 1500 miles on it. Now having trouble starting motor. Installed new battery, and now only hear a click. Lights on but no engine start. Sometimes the engine will start and other times does not. Need help anybody ?
If you hear a click then you are getting juice to the relary .If it's not cranking it could be the starter relay or the solenoid. You can try jumping across the relay with a screw driver. If it still won't crank try peeling back the rubber boot on your solenoid and try jumping the terminals from there. If it won't crank from either then start to suspect the starter. Also make sure your battery terminals are tight.
