Default Still new in Arkansas w/ oil leaks

Been riding a hand me down 2003 soft tail for a while now and it has over 75k miles now. Any thoughts on why it is leaking oil from supply all of a sudden? Thx

Well, 75k miles it could be anything. You say it's leaking from the supply line? I'd take the line off and inspect the fittings and the line itself. That many miles and 15 years old, it could have rubbed a hole or a fitting o-ring deteriorated.

I'd wash it, take a can of Brakekleen and spray every drop of oil off. Make sure everything is dry. Then watch it daily. It should be east to spot.

Default Leaking profusely

I agree. Could be a simple age issue, but since it started after hitting a nasty pothole, I am wondering about it. The leak is a fast drip when the bike is running, coming from the supply line connection to the motor. Also a mist of oil from braided section of return line. When inspecting the return line I touched it to the tranny and it sparked. New to this forum stuff so thoughts and patience are appreciated.

Typical oil leaks in that area are from the short rubber hose in the oil feed line, and the tank drain line - see above post.

On the oil feed line I replaced the crimp type hose clamps with regular type stainless steel clamp and its still bone dry.

Thanks for the info y'all. Helpful. The leak is coming from where the supply line goes into the crankcase, o-ring I assume. My biggest problem now is the direct short I have somewhere in the system. Trying to track it down before fixing the leak. Any tricks to it? Thanks again

I would start by checking all your existing grounds leading from your battery.

Pull all your fuses and then put them in one by one, checking to see when the spark occurs..it might give you an idea which circuit is a problem.
