Hi y’all, picked up this 92 FXSTS through a trade and cash for my old hot rod. Went to swap the 16” apes out for a drag bar and got the grips off to uncover a throttle setup I’m not familiar with.
any advice on how to move forward to a drag bar? I’ll need a new cable anyways as this one is far too long. Should I go ahead and source an oem throttle setup and ditch this old wizard setup?
It's an internal throttle set-up, but no idea what brand, different companies offer them. Do a google on it. You should be able to use it on the new bars if you like the look and the diameter is the same. Just need a shorter cable or you might be able to cut this one to size. If it is like most versions, it is held in place with a screw at the handle bar. Worth a try. If the angle in the bars is too acute, you will might have to get the regular OEM parts.

Nice bike by the way!
Depending on the brand he might not be able to reuse if the outer sleeve was welded / JB welded to the bars which I know for a fact Exile Internal Throttle recommends to do. If it's an Exile, might be able to reach out to them and ask to purchase just the sleeve that goes into the bars. Cable would be able to be reused to if you cut it down to length since you're going to shorter bars
