I just got my new 07 FatBoy on July 2nd. I noticed that the throttle cable rubs the back of the stock headlight nacelle turing a turn. The cable is starting to mare the nacelle. The throttle cable is in front of the brake line when it comes out of the handgrip. I went to the dealer and the Fatboys were alllike this. I tied it down some, but cant tie it down enough to keep it off the nacelle in all turns, without reducing the turning ability of the bike. Anyone elese have this problem?Or know of a clip to keep the throttle cable back, and not reduce the turning ability of the bike?
Harley ships the bikes with the handlebars removed and strapped to the side of the bike to keep the size of fthe crate down. Chances are good the cables were misrouted by the dealer during setup, so you should take it in for them to check.
Reggie, you are not alone. I wish I had noticed sooner. My '07 FB' s nacelle has the same problem you describe. When new, there were no scratches, nowthey arethere [:@]. I've learned to live with them.

Look at the install of you bike and compare it with others, chances are that Oldtimer is right
I did go to the dealership and check. All the FBoys had the same routing, though the throttle cables on the twoon the floor seemed tighter. The two on the floor would rubb up against the nacelle as well. Just wondering if anyone has come up with a fix that doesnt limit handle bar travel
Hi Reggie....yup same thing happened to my '06 fb....took it back and was told that they all do that! I learned to live it w/ it also. It sucks! I'm planning on changing the stock nacelle to crome....that's when I'll make sure that won't happen. I'm not being a jerk, but you'll get over it in a while.
Similar issue... I just noticed that the front brake cable on my Springer Classic which feeds through a hole in the side of the front fender has been rubbing the paint there for a good quarter to half inch spot. DAMMIT!!! Totally not noticeable by anyone but me, but still... [:@]
I have an '04 Heritage with the chrome nacelle. If I remember right the throttle and brake lines are attached to the back fo the nacelle with one or two little clamps that hold them in place on each side.I think there are some plugs that get removed from the nacelle and the clamps screw in somehow. Not sure if it's the same on the FB.
Same problem here. It sucks but I've been working on a solutionJust haven't done it yet too busy riding. Thinking of taking off front brak line and putting the cables on top of the brake line instead of under.Besides the mini powerball buffs most of it off. Just my .02 Good luck.
