Default 21" front wheel.

I am planing on putting on a 21" front wheel on my 2012 Deluxe and plan to keep the rear at 16. Do I need to lower the front forks or can I leave it stock. What are the advantages and or disadvantages of lowering or keeping it stock.

Many will tell you the advantage in lowering is in the handling, which only makes sense as you are taking it back to manufacturer levels. However, I have the same setup on my 02 Heritage and love the look and really don't notice the difference in handling. I believe its a personal preference...

Considering that HD puts 21 inch wheels on softails from the factory, it is not an issue.

with the same forks as the OP‘s bike? Not saying it is an issue, but the logic evades me...

Need is the question. you don't NEED to lower the front but it's going to raise the front about an inch. in theory it increases the rake ever so slightly, so slightly worse handling and slightly increases stability. Honestly, I don't think you'll notice a difference. But visually, I like dropping the front a little and take the opportunity to upgrade springs
