I am contemplating fitting a bobber seat with spring set up on my 2001 Softail Springer with a customized rear fender to cope with a 200 tire which I have fitted.Any help on where to get any sort of kit so as to get the under seat area covered and set up to mount the bobber spring.
Any ideas on how to cover the embeded electrical box on the rear fender.
Thanks to all for your thoughts.
Check out the HD catalog. I remember seeing a kit/parts for this type of conversion. Not sure of the applications though - I know it wasn't for my 06 Heritage.
JP Cycles catalog also has parts for the conversion. If you don't have the catalogs, check out the websites.
Check out www.justifieddefiance.com. That's where I got my seat and mounts. The battery cover I made from some galvanized tin from Home Depot. One word of caution, some seats (like mine), do not have a lot of padding in them. Some of the better leather seats are thicker and more confortable.
I like the look of a bobber seat, but all depends on the style of your bike. Def. would not go well with my scheme. If you go that route, think about having the rear fender welded to the swingarm. Looks much better that way, IMO...
GOTO http://www.chopperhandbook.net/, ask the question there, these guys build some insane **** in their garages. And will probably linik you to some of the build projects that these guys have done and will have pics and ideas for ya.
Unless of course you just want a bolt on thing.
Oh and I have seen a few police air ride setups with the frame and saddle on e-bay sort of cheap.
