Default Help needed centering rear wheel '02 Fatboy

Hello folks,
just after some help from those who have done or know how to do this. I have the early 02 fatboy with the 130mm rear end, from what I've read the '03 fatboy came with a different rear wheel hub that actually centred the wheel on the fender properly and they went to a 150 tire...

So, I have the .200" pulley spacer and know that I need to machine the outside part of the caliper where the axle goes through...

Can anyone tell me exactly what part of the caliper in the second picture I need to get machined and how? And what do I do with the rubber grommet thing in groove?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks, so I know I have to machine down the outside part of the caliper where the axle passes through, but I'm confused about the machining oid the second part of the caliper - the part in the second picture I posted.

It has three sides to where it butts up against the swingarm, so which sides get machined?

Thanks.

Unless you've changed your swing arm you shouldn't need to touch that groove.
After you mill the rim side for the spacer, the caliper should self center an fall right into place.
If you're milling the swingarm side or both sides, you'll mill the bottom of the notch the same
depth you mill from the swingarm side, and trim the rubber bumper the same amount.
Unless I'm missing something.

Thanks Ranger, but from all the info I've read so far only the outer side of the caliper is machined - not the inner (rim) side. The entire caliper has to shift across (out) hence the need to mill both parts of the caliper.

The first picture shows the easy bit - the end part of the caliper where the axle passes through. The second picture is the part of the caliper where it sits up against the inner part of the swingarm in a 3-sided groove that needs to be machined as well, I'm just not 100% sure how / where...

Thanks for anyone who knows this mod and can share any advice.

Another option might be to take .200" off the tab on the swingarm itself where the grooved end of the caliper joins / slides up to? This part circled in red? Anyone done this?

My memory isn’t what it once was but I’m thinking a 150 should fit with no other changes.

I put a 150 on my 02 Fatboy and seems like i had to trim the inner fender (black plastic opposite of the belt).....pretty sure that was it. The caliper is a little tricky when installing the tire but it can be done.

Thanks. I'm going to centre the wheel in the swingarm / fender regardless of the tire size. So far I've got the correct pulley space and a machine shop to take the same amount out of the caliper so it all lines up.
