I chose my fatboy b/c it's what I always wanted. I think the fatboy and heritage ride very similar, I just didn't want bags and windshield. I feel like the fatboy is more of a blank canvas and the heritage is geared more towards touring out of the crate. The springer is verycool, but you have to like the old school style. It is hard to get away from if you have a springer frontend.

I seem to be leaning towards the springer because of the old style looks. I very seldom see any springers in my area, & I like to be different.
I guess my last question would be, is the ride quality the same for the springer, or do you sacrifice any smoothness in the front suspension with the springer over the fluid dampened forks on the heritage & fatboy? Thanks for all of the input guys.

My brother-in-law has an older (98 or so) EVO springer and according to him the ride is actually smoother if more "bouncy" than more conventionsl front ends. However he does admit that when it comes to cornering the more "flexable" tubes of the springer make 'playing' crotch rocket an iffy and in extreme cases can actually get slightly dangerous because of the front wheel wobble on his.
You need to be a bit more vigilant with the front end maintenance on springers because of all the moving parts. With nearly 40,000 miles on itI suspect that hisrocker bushings and shock may be pushing or past their lifespan limits and that's the reason his shakes a bit in hard corners.
But if you like tham and are willing to keep up the maintenance on them I don't see anything wrong with one. It is a nice looking setup, just not my thing. Too many moving parts for my taste and I DO like to 'play' crotch rocket once in a while and need all the help not hinderance I can get.

I bought this 2002 Deuce (sig pic) a few months ago for $12k. Bought it from the original owner - a rich guy about 70 years old. It has about $4k in extras. Stage 1, never-installed gennie HD saddlebags and brackets, windvest windshield, Seat, backrest, luggage rack, lots of chrome, etc. Has almost $1k custom (HD factory) flamed pearl paint, 57/150.

It had 3,500 miles and is mint, mint, mint. I've put about 2,000 miles on it with no problems.

Edit: Oops sorry, changed my sig to the WG. Here's the Deuce...

Could somebody elaborate on the maintainanceof a springer frontend. I am fairly mechanically inclined, just would like to know what needs to be maintained. Thanks
Frank
There are 2 sliding bushings at the top and 2 bearings on the rockers on each side that need to be greased regularly. Also some nuts and bolts that should be checked at least weekly. At least, this was the case on the last 2 springers I've owned.

One reason I like a Heritage Classic is it comes WITH saddle bags & windshield.. And you can always remove if you want it to look like a Fatboy. Seems like a lot of folks get a FB and add all the stuff a classic has anyway. Never rode a springer so have zero input. But none of them are bad.

Hey Trash, I know you are still bitter but half the fun is the hunt. I always am a bit disappointed when I finally make my purchase. Anyway, I can say that at 5'6" tall I do not fit well on a Fatboy. For me the reach it too far on the stock bars/risers and would require a swap out. I ride a Deluxe and it fits me like a glove.
