Hi all. New to the forum and figured theres no better place to seek advice. I just picked up a 2010 Softail Custom, completely stock and original, with only 12 miles on it. Beautiful machine. What Im not sure of is if I should ride her or wrap her in bubble wrap. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Did you find out why someone would buy a brand new bike and then pack it away for 12 years without riding it.
Right! Inquiring minds want to know. It amazes me sometimes the bikes people find that are basically new from a decade or more ago. Who buys a bike and never rides it?
I think most of us will be dead, before that bike would be worth enough money to just put it in mothballs..... And even then there won't be many left who would care enough to buy it at a bargain price....
With the current movement to ban all gasoline engines.... if you hold onto it long enough, it may become a worthless tribute to the past.... There are already several generations that could care less about anything that doesn't have an LCD screen and the ability to post on social media....
I would get it in shape to ride it, and put miles on it.... Maybe I wouldn't take it on a cross country trip, but I wouldn't be afraid to get caught on it in the rain... It should be ridden....
You have a bike in pristine condition, and with a little effort, you can keep it that way... but I would ride it...!!!!!
