both, 1996 and 2006 ultras that my buddy has have cruise control are cable throttled. I prefer to stay with my softail since the wife and I are more comfortable on it vs the touring frame. My bike is pearl suede blue which was only offered in 07 and 08 on select models.
From the research I have done looks like I would need alot of parts that were used on earlier road kings. My stumbling point is what actually controls everything from the switch to tapping the brakes and canceling CC I guess lack of better words the brain is it all thru the ecm? Can I put a road king ecm on my particular bike or somebody use a computer to enable that feature? Im just hoping someone can shed some light
I seen that, I wasnt real interested at this time, Id prefer to use Harley parts if possible.
Harley parts arent an option that model year. Harley only made cruise available for throttle by wire softails on 2016+and a few earlier screaming Eagle ones that had tbw. My personal recommendation is to get a 2016/17 and call it a day.
I remember reading this thread not long ago. I know its been about 10 years ago but would you know if customized cycle is still around or have any contact information for him?

Hello, I got a 2008 heritage that I have no interest of getting rid of for a newer one. Ive done some forum searching, Facebook searching so I figured I start a new thread.
So my question is, is it possible to add cruise control to my bike? Who or where can I take my bike?
I know harley didnt offer for early softails but if a buddies 96 ultra converted to a trike have cruise control I would think its some what do-able.
I found that somebody from Customized Cycles..? use to put a kit together but after doing some research I came up short for a valid number, location or website.
I also found people talking about converting the throttle cables to throttle by wire. Id be interested going that route if it was possible.
any help would be much appreciated thank you
My 2000FLSTC came to me from the original owner two years ago with every box and every receipt from the HD dealer. My Softail has electro-mechanical cruise cruise control. Push button engage, either brake or throttle disengages.
What it does not do is keep your speed the same on and off hills but that is overcome by a simple twist of the locked throttle grip. Still working perfectly after 23 years
@Bigmac_1995 I have a bagger but rarely use cruise if ever. Unless one is on straight wide open roads for hours at a time doing constant speed, I've never found it that useful. Or if doing a run w/ buddies, its worthless then as people are accelerating/decelerating etc....esp on curvy country roads, using cruise is of little value (to me).
I have found the Kury throttle rocker to be really nice. Not a huge Kury fan, but the grips have held up exceptionally well, way better then the HD grips I've gone through (last a season or two then fall apart). Far easier solution.
