Hi Everyone! Has anyone changed the bars on a heritage and gone to something like RK Classic, street glide, or fatboy bars? Just curious cause I really don't like the mini type apes that are on the heritage. If you have, did you also have to change the cables because of too much slack?
Actually, most people change from RoadKing bars to Heritage bars. RoadKing bars and fatboy bars are about the most uncomfortable I have ever ridden with.
But, to answer your question, I doubt you would have to change the cables. I went from Roadking bars to 2"pullback dresser bars on my '95 Roadking and didn't have to change anything. I also put 2" pullback dresserbars on the wife's Hertiage and didn't have to change anything.
I just changed out the stock bars with some 36" bikini beachs bars on my 90 Heritage. I did not have to change out any cables. I carefully tweaked the metal brake line to fit. I do wish that I did swap over to braided lines just for looks though. Otherwise I really like the beach bars over the stock.
