I just bought an 05 Deluxe and want to change the floorboards from stock to ones like on a SG so I can use the diamond plate style D-shaped inserts. Anyone else do this and if so what parts do I need? Do I use the same mounts.
you will need the floorboards from a fatboy or one of the other models with that style . you can usually find them on e bay for about $30 to 50 dollars. new from harley about $120 dollars if i remember correct . then you will have to buy the inserts they have rubber plugs on the back side that you push through the holes on the floor board a little dish detergent will help you push them through. I have the same floor boards that you need on my ride but have a different insert check my gallery for a detailed picture. you will probaley bend the old inserts taking them out . the floorboards are easy to remove and install on your bike
You will need to do as nikonf8 said and change out the floorboard pans, but if your going to do that, you might want to consider the extended reach riders floorboards that Harley makes. P/N 50409-04 The mounting brackets on the bottom of the boards are further back making the floorboard 2 inches forward. Harley says that they are for the touring modles only but they fit the softails with the D shaped floorbards no problem. I have them on my fatboy. And for $79.95 there not to bad in price. I would advise you get an EZ brake pedel or an extended break pedel of some sort if you go this route though, it will just make it easier to use the rear brake.

Actually she wants these:
Are you going to kill some of that chrome with some powder coating? Maybe the pans? I know how you like to murder chrome!

Are you kidding me?! She talked about nothing else the whole ride home (looks like I married a chrome killer just like me). She has a whole new paint scheme for it.

She wants the whole front end blacked out (like someone else we know [sm=smiley2.gif]) plus LOTS of engine pieces. Looks like my bike will be a repeat in the World of Wheels (meaning look exactly the same) and we'll spend the winter doing hers!
I've actually been wondering if I could the opposite. I have a '97 Fatboy, and I want to put the Deluxe floorboards on it. I just don't know if they'll fit where it's an older bike. If you want to get rid of your stockers, let me know please. [&:]

Should fit just fine. The floorboards should fit 97 and newer.
