I'm looking for a low cost performance mod for my bike. 2005 FLSTFI Annv Edition with the factory 95ci engine, I also have a SERT and SE AC (it came with it) with a K & N and V & H BSS.
I came accross this in the HD parts catalog and wondered if anyone has experience with just adding cams.
Screamin' Eagle® SE-203 Cam Kit Upgrade the 15th Anniversary Fat Boy® 1550cc Twin Cam engine to street-legal Stage II performance levels. The SE-203 cam is designed to provide exceptional low and mid-range torque. Kit includes front and rear cams. Dealer installation is recommended, and special tools are required for proper installation. 50 state street legal when used with stock mufflers.
My dealers mechanic says to do the heads as well but for now I want to try to keep the $ down and the reliability of the bike up.
I have em. I'm happy. For a moderate mod, it runs good. I forget the dyno #'s.
It's carbed (200 mn jet) and a Thunderheader. I think the cams and that pipe compliment each other.
There are pleny of bikes out there that are faster. But compared to stock or "stage 1" like my wife's FI 03.
From a 60 mph roll on . . . I'll walk away. Plenty of mid range power for 88" (small these days)
Another tidbit. We changed them @ 9K miles. My tens shoes were 1/3 worn (word to the wise !!)
I ran the 203's in my '03 Heritage. I thought they were great! Mine had the 95" kit, V&H ProPipe, S.E. A/C and a PCIII. The low end and mid range power was awesome compared to the stock engine. No head work was done on mine.
