Thanks guys, several posts helped me tackle this project myself! They turned out great and I learned a lot!!! I did drop the gas tank and which totally pissed me off, it does give me another project to save up for!! I tried to add pictures, but am not sure if they took.
Thanks guys, yeah the dent is a friendly reminder to take my time. The dent happened as soon as I removed the tank. I was holding it (very carefully) by the back and the gas gauge.... don't do that!!!!! The gas gauge came off and down went the tank!!! I will get it repainted next year when I do some motor work. Those bars areCarlini 14" Fly'n Apes with 2" risers, I used the newer Platinum SeriesCables from Barnetts, they are sweet. The required cables were 54" for the brake, +6 for the throttle and idle, and +8 for the clutch. Don't let anybody tell you different, like they told me, suffice it to say that I installed the brake cable and the clutch twice due to bad advice by very experienced people. I was adviced by the dealer ordering the cables that I only needed +3 cables (after my research on this form I figured +6 was the right number) but I went with his advice. The throttle and idle cables came in +6 by mistake and they fit perfectly, the clutch cable said +3 but it was the same as stock, after I removed it (when I realized it did not fit) and checked it with the original cable. All in all it was a fun job!! I have a few more pictures I will post.
Those are the 1.250 bars, with the 1.5 bars you need to get new risers, as the bars are not reduced at the mounting poing. When I bought the bars I thoght I was going to stay with the stock risers. Ultimately I did go with new risers, but oh well, they still look pretty good. The Carlini bars are nice, but man are they proud of them. If you want them find a dealer and see if you can get them at dealer cost (about $300 instead of $350), still pricey I know. I saw them on a buddies bike and I just had to have them... I am sure you know how it goes!!!
