Is it normal for your clutch lever area to make a buzzing sound during higher rpms.My 06 Train does any suggestions or is it just the nature of the bike.thx
Mine doesn't do it, but I suspect the its probably just a but a bit loose. I am going to make a guess that its the clutch lever that's making the noise. See if it goes away if you keep a finger or two on it while your winding it up.
If it goes away see if you can tighten things up, start with eliminating any slop in the clutch handle then try taking up any slack in the clutch cable.
If it isn't the clutch lever see if the mirror or the turn signals are loose.
It does stop when I hold the lever.I was told my clutch cable is a bit to long for my bike wrong part.Is there a way to remedy this or do I need to buy a new clutch cable?
There is an "anti rattle clip" built onto the clutch lever. Basically supplying friction to keep the lever from rattling around. The clutch cable needs some free play, so the lever will be somewhat loose. Check the slop of the lever itself and compare it to another bike. It's not that difficult to loosen the cable and pull the lever to check the clip.
BGHFD may have something there. I noticed that you changed thehandlebars and put on a new clutch cable.
If that's true the odds are you either didn't install the little anti-rattle spring right or it fell out without you seeing it when you took it apart. So you reassembled it without the spring in error.
Its an easy thing to overlook and the part (PN=45021-86) is cheap.
So I would pull it apart to see if the spring is installed properly or missing altogether.
BTW an overlong clutch cable isn't a big deal and shouldn't make the handle rattle even if its a foot too long. It just looks odd.
Aproperly adjusted cablewill still operate correctly and if its just a tad snug it will hold the handle in place preventing it from rattleing even without the anti-rattle spring installed.
One dealership said it could be bad bushings in the hand lever?I said it only has 1300 miles on the bike. Are there bushings in the the clutch lever and how would you know if they are bad? thx
Yes there is a bushing (PN=45423-93), but I find it hard to believe that it could be that worn in such a short time frame. If it actually is worn that bad I would be having a seriously one sidedconversation with the dealer about how fast they couldreplace it under thewarrenty. But I doubt that's the problem and it would only take a couple of minutes to check it out. If its really "that" worn its going to be really easy to see.
