For sound and Cheapness you cant beat the Cycle Shack Slip Ons.They sound exactly like the SE's and 1/2 the price. But someone said to do nothing and listen to other pipes, thats good advice. Pipes are expensive and it would be to your advantage to hear a few sets. I just got Hooker Troublemakers and they have a smooth deep rumble.
you can do any thing you like to your bike its yours. The Deluxe was designed to look like a nostalgic bike and besides the sound you have to consider the look if your going to stay with the nostalgic look I like the Vance and Hines true duels. Classic look with a nice sound if they are a little to loud for you drop in the quite baffles and it will be pleasing. Cost about 40 more dollars. you have to consider sound performance the look and the price. if you cannot afford a certain set pipes rule them out i guess first thing is to figure out what you can afford that's number one then see what is available in your price range and o yea do not forget the extras you need with a performance set of pipe you will need a stage one air system or arlen ness big sucker or what ever also a pc111 ,V&H fuel pack, Harley race tuner or some kind of down load to tweak it. take all this into consideration and if your paying for labor in the end it could cost you upwards of $1800 dollars depending on the pipes you select. You can go with a slip on pipe like cycle shack nice sound reasonably priced good performance and get away without a tuner or download. That's pretty much the full gamete on the subject. Take your time make the right decision and do it once
I've heard the Rush slipon and they sound good. I chose the HD Screamin' Eagle for my Heritage because of looks and sound. A bud also has them on his Softail Custom, and there is a difference in how they sound on the two bikes. Here's a pic and the link to my webpage with information about the HD SE pipes ...

Do you know if you can purchase just the tubes and not the whole kit and kibodle? I have the V&H Fishtail II slip-ons, but would like to go to the true duals soon. It would be great if I can order the tubes and heat shields only and just use my existing slip-ons.
If so, do you know of a 3rd party dealer, or would this most likely have to be a direct order from V&H?
Batbuds the fishtails are sold separately at a cost of about $140.00 they do not come with the true duels with that being said the rest of the system will cost you about $550.00 some where in that area if you go quite baffles add another $50.00.

How would you compare the sound of your SEs to your stock muffler. Some have posted they are no louder or only slightly louder than stock. Are there any obvious reasons for them to sound different on the two bikes, i.e., year, engine, mods, etc..
BTW, doing a tutorial on your install was a great idea. Posting it for the benefit of others an even better idea.
There is a big difference in sound of the SE2's over the stock pipes. If youhold a stockpipe so you can look insideyou can't see through the stock pipes but you can see daylight through the SE2s which means less restriction.

He has the regular street legal SEs. The SEIIs aren't street legal as far as I know. They sell them as race purposes only. The IIs are probably comparable to my Rush 1.75s which as you said you can see clear through.
all harley exhaust produced in the last year maybe even two is street leagle they no longer produce any thing that is not due to epa. I would prefer the cycle shack slip ons over any harley slip on any day better sound and also proformance
Look at other bikes like yours and listen how they sound or look at the many pipes out there and decidewhat look you are wanting yourto have and go from there.
These are what I have on both of mine.
