Woah, Pat, You DO NOT disconnect the signal wires from the switches. (As in the actual switch, I don't mean the switch black or chrome cover.)

I don't remember exactly what I did but I swapped out the black housing and the switches for Chrome long before the bar install.

With the bar install you simply remove the wires by the TANK out of the existing bars thereby leaving the switch housing in tack. This is why you disconnect the wires from under the tank.

Once all the wires are out, remove the stock bar and then feed the wires back through the new bar. Then you simply reconnect the wires back under the tank.

Btw, just feed a peice of string through the new bar, attach it to the wires and then pull the string back through with the wires attached. The wires will fit without to much hassle.

But whatever you do, DO NOT detach the cables from the actual switches.
