Default Springer Question

Why is it that FX springers have the front brake on the right side and FL springers have the front brake on the left side? I want to put a wide front tire on my FX springer and have to make a wheel. Why would harley go through the trouble to make different springer front ends?

Not shure, but I think the rear forks have different rakes.
Ft. fork is the same
