Default TURN SIGNAL RELOCATION 101 (with pics)

Finally got around to relocating my turn signals on my 2006 FATBOY. I know this has been a popular topic around here lately, so I just wanted to post a step-by-step process for others to reference. Hope it helps. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Remove signals from bars, pull wires out.

Locate the turn signal plug on right side of tank.

Install 2" 5/16x24 bolt with blue locktite.Useone 5/16x24 nut to tighten down fork accent strip. Use a second 5/16x24 nut to tighten against turn signal. Screw turn signal on bolt and tighten nut down to lock in place.

Repeat the previous step on opposite side.

You are now ready to splice thewires. I used wire connector b/c my soldering gun crapped out on me in the middle of the project.

I also reccomend putting heat shrink over the splice.

I used a multimeter to make sure connections were sound.

Use zip ties to secure loose wires and keep everything in place. And your done!

Nice post!

well done step by step write up.[8D]
But I believe an "Altimeter" measures Altitude...
youwould usean OHM METER to check the connections!

you should go back and solder those connections, those butt splices will eventually go bad, even with heat shrink on them.

Yeah, acutally it was a multimeter. I am going to solder the connections at a later date when I loosen the tank to install the HD garage door opener. Might as well do it all at once.

where did you find a chrome bolt or stud2" 5/16x24 threaded all the way to the end? I want to do the same thing but all I can find are zine bolts. all the chrome bolts I find are shouldered the last 1/2 inch. I have a detachable windshield and it will work the same way. thanks for the post

Ace hardware here in Texas has a section of chrome hardware (bolts, nuts, spacers, etc.) I bought a fully threaded 2" bolt and cut the head off.

Very cool!

See Warg,I told y'all it was easy.Only thing I do different is to use a chrome spacer instead of the nuts.

I guess I'm lucky; my bike hasn't had turn signals since I've owned it. I've been stopped three times for other things in the last nine years and the officers have never noticed that my bike doesn't have any. The original owner had them taken off back in 1990 and so far hand signals have been all that has been needed in the last eighteen years. And I live in the overly regulated state of California.

Looks great that way...........Previous owner of my fatboy put a heritage light bar kit on the front of mine and I don't care for it. I'm going to get some stock bullet signals and install them just as you did.
