WOW....I had some yamahas 25 yrs ago but this is a bike. I've got an 06 Deuce with SE A/C, supertrapp mean mother exhaust and the HD D/L. What a trip!!!!!!

ORIGINAL: SoftailBrian

My first time on a Harley came about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I've owned Yamaha and Suzukis in the past, but as I pulled out of the lot at the Harley dealer, I looked down at the tank were it says Harley Davidson and all I could do was smile. Best feeling in the world.[sm=happy046.gif]

Amen to that!!! My friends told me this summer that I'd learn not to grin like fool all the time. A grasshopper stopped it for about three miles while my eyes watered like crazy. But the smile came back! (All I could think of was "dang! that was great! blankety-blank grasshopper!)

Welcome to the world of "new converts" Oldude!

Beacuse of the more open exhaust you're unning your engine too lean(more air is going in and out with not enough fuel) which could damage your engine when temperatures get higher because since there is basically not enough fuel going into the engine the cooling effect of the fuel is no longer present. Also, with more fuel you could possibly get more power out of the same engine.
The popping sound is the burning of unburned fuelfumes in the exhaust because the exhaust is getting so hot (because of the lean engine) that the gasses in the exhaust will ignite by themself.
Get your fuelsystem adjusted with an EFI tuner (like V&H, Daytona, etc) and make sure your dealer knows what he is doing with EFI tuning otherwise you will only spend money and not improve your engine. Good thing is, that the new systems tune themselves, like the daytona system (www.daytona-sensors.com)
