I just did the rocker bearing adjustment on mine - at 500 miles as stated in the service manual and owners manual. It is a bit of a PITA, but easy enough if you have the right tools. I posted a thread recently about it, and had some great replies about specialty tools to simplify the process...

Not really.....If your going to have someone else do the work. Find you a good indy shop with a certified mechanic. Chances are the person doing the wrenching has been doing it for several years. The stealerships tend to hire guys right out of school with little experience. Which may or may not be a good thing. Depending on how well they're supervised. I tend to trust older guys with experience. But of course I will have to say. My local dealership has a well run shop, supervised by a gentleman I'd trust to see that it got done right. Mike is a true bikers biker. Wheelchair bound, he rides his hacked Rodeglide to work every day. But I do my own wrenching and over time have developed a good relationship with these folks. And they will share advice with me, that they might not with someone they don't trust to get it done right or know.

By law they can't force you to let them do the work in order to validate the warranty, it just has to be done by someone "qualified".

I've been wrenching on bikes, cars, trucks and heavy machinery for over 20 years, combine that with a service manual and I believe I'm qualified.

The back of the owners manual has a place to document maintenance. As long as that is kept up to date (or a similar system is used) and parts receipts are saved, there shouldn't be any warranty issues. If there is, well... I'm pretty good at arguing my point
