Yes, it's a Springer, not a Heritage Springer

Yeah, custom is right, the springer will bring some bucks. If it was a heritage springer we would be cookin'.

Just one thing though, like it was said above, the 2000 and newer bikes have the fork lock in the neck. While you should be able to change out the front ends with out a problem, the neck lock wont work on the new front end. The old style neck will need modification to make the neck lock work. It might be more worth your while to get a front end that has the pad lock option so you dont have to modify the neck.

I just can't imagine getting rid of that awesome hunk of chrome for some brushed aluminum tubes, but I digress.

I don't know what she's ridden in the past but maybe a demo ride on say a Softail Custom and see if she can really see a difference before you change everything.

Just a thought.

She has ridden alot more than me. Harleys have always been a family affair. She rode an Ironhead Sporty from Bellingham, Washington to Yellowstone sometime in the early 80's. After that trip she bought a brand new 1986 Softail Custom. Her brother disappeared in a fishing boat accident a couple years later and she couldn't ride it anymore. (too many memories) 10 years ago she started drag racing, won many championships on a modified GSXR capable of 8.80 in a quarter mile 140 mph. It got squirrly and threw her off at over 100 mph and shattered her shoulder. I bought a Superglide 2 yrs ago and convinced her that she needed a little street therapy. So this brings us to the Springer, she likes the look but doesn't like the ride. So bottom line is the Springer is for sale and she is looking for a Heritage. My mom and dad both don't believe in owning 2 of the same so the Softail Custom is out. I also think modifying the Springer is out as well. Ever see a Heritage with a bobtail rear fender????

Well, that blew...correction, that NUKED my petty idea, your Mom sounds cool.

I wish you could get more help here but it sounds like your going to have to leave it up to her and get her what she wants.

You can get $1500 plus outta that springer front. You can get a chromed FL front end for $500-1000 depending on where you get it. So yes I'll trade ya. Also if you want more stopping power put the dressers lowers on and have dual disc. You'll have to switch out the master cylinder to a 11/16 though. Or look into putting a 16" on there and make it a Heritage Springer. Have her rent/ride one. It might be she doesn't like the skinny 21" wheel.
