Breaking that is hard. They're torqued to about a million ft lbs from the factory.
Get the bike in the air, then raise & lwr the wheel to where there is no stress on the shocks, that way you can freely move that bolt. Real PITA, til you've done it once or twice.
As far as 422's. Eeeh. I had em on my Heritage for 300 miles. I like the ability for so much adjustment (& ride ht), and good rebound, but they are a hard ridin SOB. Sold em on ebay. Fortunatly, I bought em at a good discount so I was able to recoup my $$$$
All stock on there now. I'm only 180lb and always ride solo, so I don't need beefy susp. I want as smooth as poss.
And as far as smooth . . . The Mustang seat is the best thing goin!!!! I can't say enough good things about that product.
Just installed a set on my bike. Haven't gone for a ride yet, my lower sliders are coming back from the powder coater this week. Went with Progressive 1" lower springs in the front also. Shocks were easy enough to install.
I was going to get those till I decided on the Hi-Lo air ride. Love the on the fly adjustability and the fact that I can ride totally slammed if I like. Lifetime warranty. They are pricey and sI said I would never spend that much on my bike, but I finally broke down and did. Well worth it in my opinion.
I decided against the progressives when one of the guys I ride with got them, and then got an air ride instead. That was all I needed to know.
