Default thinking about 1998 fatboy...

hey guys, mostly a reader on this forum, but i have learned alot of useful info. i have an 08 electra glide for long trips / 2 up with my wife. lately i have had the itch for a 2nd bike and i love the look of a fatboy. i've found a 1998 fatboy with @ 22,500 miles, the bike seems to run good and it is certainly clean enough, my question is , what are the downfalls of an evo, what else should i look for ? bottom dollar is $7,000. thanks for all input

They all have down falls. The EVO is the last of the RAW horsepower motors. All the rest are computer controlled. For $7000 sound like a hell of a deal. Evos leak, Base of the cyclinders, Rocker boxes. Mine does. But my dads got 70,000 miles on his, never had a leak. I am told that its due to all the different types of metels that are used in all the parts of the motor and the rate that they expand and contract to heat.

Do you guys know the difference between a 1340 evo and a Sportster evo? My employee has a 04 Sportster 883, 40,000 clicks, no oil leak at all, it runs as strong as new. I am just curious........

Heck of a deal. You'd love it. For that kind of money, you could fix it up the way that you wanted it and still have a great ride....
