whats up guys... my 05 softtail stated at 88cid and then i did the stage 2 kit 95 c.id i love the new found power..i hade it dynoed at my oild shop and she pulled 95 a.t.r.w.. but i would like for the guys with the 96b motor tell there thoughts on it comparid to the 88b.. i have wanted to try one out but never had the chance... any info would be great... thanks
I've got the 96" on my 07 Deuce and recently rode a mates 05 Springer which has the 88". Mine is also EFI with SERT, SE A/C and it's been dynoed, his is a carby with SE A/C only. My 07 has the 6 speed cruise drive, his is the 5 speed, and i've changed my pulley over from a 66 tooth to a 70 tooth.
Not really an apples and apples comparison, but the 96" seemed to have more power through the rev range. I could blip the throttle in any gear and there was an immediate punch forward. The 88" didn't have this punch but the 5 speed gearing seems to give it more power down low than the 96" - he smokes me off the lights every time... but he is also a complete nutter. The 96" is a smoother ride at speed though... 6th gear on the 96" is much softer than 5th on the 88".
My Stage 1 88B keeps up just find with the 96B's when the throttle is twisted to the stop. I would like a little more roll on power but in full drag mode it gets up and goes as well as a 96. A well put together 95 should stomp a 96 into the ground.
My buddy has a 07 train and his is awesome because of the 6th gear. I have a 06 carb standard and i have no problem keeping up with him or leavn his *** at the light. My other buddy has a 05 train with a 95 " kit and he leaves us both sittin still anytime.
