Default Help? 07 Fatboy wheel offset or 08,09?

I have an 04 Fatboy and want to trade the bike. I found a good deal on an 07, but I am concerned about the wheel offset and transmission noise I have heard about. Can anyone shed some light on these two issues? Or should I look for an 08 or 09. Thanks in advance.

Hehe, I know exactly where your coming from!

As the owner of an 07 Fatboy, my personal recommendation is to pass on the 07 and look for an 08 or 09 if you really want a new Fatty.

Transmission is fine, but that front wheel garbage is something Im dealin with on my ride. Hope something can happen to fix it but we'll see.

My opinion!

I'm with ebeattie on his fight to get the front fork issue resolved, however, I haven't had a problem with my 07 FatBoy, it tracks straight, doesn't have tread wear on either side of the front tire, and you would have to know of the issue to notice it. As far as the transmission noise, I run Mobil 1 V-Twin synthetic in mine and that helped that issue. I think it's the character of the new six speed trannys.

if the price is good then go for it. I have over 30,000 miles on mine and no transmission noise after switching oil

Staying with a Fatboy. Says a lot about this bike!

Regarding what year. It seems like every year something is not quite right or something is a little better... Get whatever is the best deal that you can afford and has the most after market stuff!

I too have an 07 FatBoy. 15,000 and no problems with eneven tire wear. Replace the rear at 12,500, still have the original front. I haven't had any problems with tracking either. The only noise I notice is in fifth gear due to the straight cut gear, no other problems.

I agree, I have an 07 Fatboy and have had no problems. The whole off set tire thing doesn't bother me. Something I did notice is if you check the rear tire it to is a little of center and seems like it is aligned with the front. When I put my fingers under the fender I can fit more of my hand between the wheel and fender on the left side of the bike than I can on the right. My bike tracks straight with my hands off the bars. I say go for the best deal and don't worry about the rest.

Is this problem specific to Fat Boys only, or would it effect other bikes, like my 07 Softail Custom?

Thanks
